Match Preview: Everton vs. Arsenal

Resilience and perseverance enabled the Gunners to take away the three points from their match against Stoke. Can they secure their second straight win even if Shkodran Mustafi is out?

Arsenal almost dropped the point last weekend after giving away a penalty to Stoke’s Charlie Adam.

However, Arsene Wenger and his men were not ready to wave the white flag yet. Shortly before the half-time Theo Walcott delivered an equalizer. A goal from Mesut Ozil on the 49th minute put the Gunners on the driver’s seat and Alexi Iwobi sealed the Potter’s coffin with Arsenal’s third goal on the 75th.

Clearly, the above-mentioned performance showed that Arsenal has plenty of scoring options. This means that it is practically ok even if Alexis Sanchez does not give himself too involved in the scoring responsibilities. The team has form, grit and has been very efficient in creating scoring chances. Priced at 1.85, it is evident that the Gunners offer a competitive deal.

In four of their last six matches, the team scores an average of two goals. It is best if you go for a score of 1:2 in Arsenal’s favor (4*). Or you can also opt for a correct score of 1:2 (8.89).

Unfortunately, Shkodran Mustafi will not play in this particular match. The ex-Valencia man is sidelined for three weeks because of hamstring injury.

This leaves Laurent Koscielny with plenty of defensive responsibilities to attend to and Everton will definitely take advantage of this situation.

It should be noted that while Everton has not won four of their last five matches, they were able to force the Gunners’ once to settle for an even steven finish. Perhaps, it only takes the Toffees the perfect condition for them to exploit Arsenal’s weaknesses. Thus, choosing a draw result (3.67) is not really a bad idea.

Yes, so far, a draw is the best possible result that Everton could snatch against Arsenal. Though Romelu Lukaku has been very efficient, his efforts (alone) are not enough to take the time to higher rank. Their current form is quite bad since they have only won once in their last six matches. The rest of their encounter resulted in a combinatin of draws and losses that are not really helping them achieve their ambition.
