Match Preview: Manchester City vs. Arsenal

Manchester City is all smiles as of the moment after snatching a comfortable 2-0 win against Watford.

But prior to that, Pep Guardiola described the result of his previous match as the worst time of his managerial career. Leicester thrashed them with four massive goals and adding more insult to injury was the fact that the defending champion also handed them their second straight defeat.

Due to the said scenario, City’s title chances just got weaker. The situation could have been worse if Watford was able to turn the odds into their favor, but thankfully, they were able to recover.

Clearly, Guardiola’s defensive problems is taking a toll on them.

Just recently, he issued a warning against his defenders. The Catalan strategist made it clear that he is willing to put some of his regulars to the bench if they do not perform well.

John Stones, who was dropped in the Watford match is the perfect example of how Guardiola could be ruthless  on the pitch.

City has dominated three of their last five matches against Arsenal, but there is no assurance that they will monopolize all the points in this match knowing that Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho are still out to serve their respective match bans.

Thus, it would be profitable to pick a draw (3.58) result in this match. But it would be also wise to go for City as the first club to score (2.28) since they will be playing in their own turf. The club has been victorious in 10 of their last 11 matches at Etihad and it is less likely for them to drop points here.

The argument that an even steven finish will be the most likely result can be attrributed to the fact that Arsenal’s present performance hardly meets expectations.

They just lost to Everton in a humiliating manner and with Arsene Wenger blaming the referee for their loss, the team is not really giving a good impression.

Clearly, they missed Shkodran Mustafi. But since they are also vying for the title, they will not allow another saddening scenario to transpire. This is why even if City nets the first goal, Arsenal will most likely to end the match with an even steven finish.

A correct score of 1-1 (6.93) would be a great pick.
