Mourinho, Eager to Have Griezmann at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho is said to be very keen in bringing Atletico Madrid’s stellar striker, Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford.

According to reports, the Special One is pushing to have a No.10 in his club—one that could perfectly fill in the shoes of an attacking midfielder. The transfer is said to be pegged at £60M.

Mourinho believes that this approach will help in getting the best out of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, who signed a record-breaking transfer fee this season.

Under this context, the United boss sees Griezmann as the only player that can fulfill the above-mentioned role.

The move is less likely to happen this January. But rest assured negotiations will surely take place this summer.

Mourinho is fully aware that it will be pretty difficult to convince Griezmann. Reports have it that he has already sought the assistance of a renowned agent to help him bring the France international in England.

The identity of the said agent remains unknown, yet, there is the possibility that this could be Mino Raiola, the man who facilitated the transfer of Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Other than the agent, Griezmann’s fellow compatriot, Pogba was also requested to give a helping hand in the negotiations.

This is not the first time that the Atletico Madrid ace was offered to play in the Premier League.

Arsenal has been one of his admirers and has sought Laurent Koscielny’s as well.

However, it looks like his chances of wearing the Gunners’ jersey are not that high as he has already stressed that he is happy at Madrid.

“For Arsenal, he speaks to me about it often. But I’m good in Madrid. I don’t want to leave. I’m happy here,” he shared.

Griezmann has been an integral part of Diego Simeone’s starting XI since he transferred from Real Sociedad. He has already delivered six goals this season and won France’s Footballer of the Year after an impressive performance not only in La Liga, but also in the, European Championship.
