In an attempt to avoid relegation, Swansea bolstered its line-up with the acquisition of Tom Carrol and Martin Olsson.
Carroll was a product of the Tottenham academy and formally joined the squad in 2011.
Unfortunately, he fell down in the pecking order and was loaned to different clubs such as Leyton Orient, Derby County and Queen Parks Rangers. Two seasons ago, he joined Swansea.
Currently, the Swans is on the brink of being relegated to the Championship. They occupy the rock bottom part of the league table and they need reinforcements to secure their safety.
Apparently, Carroll is one of the players that is perceived to help them in their survival battle. The transfer deal is set at £4.5M.
“It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been here – there have been some changes – but I’m excited to be back. It can take time to settle in at a new club, but having some familiar faces around the place will help me get going straight away. I know what the club is about too, and I know the playing style suits me so that was a big factor in me coming here,” he shared in an interview.
As for Olsson, his arrival came rather quickly.
Swansea is already keeping tabs on him but with Neil Taylor suffering an injury, the move needs to be done immediately.
According to reports, the club has to pay Norwich a £4M-fee for his transfer. The contract entails that he play for Swansea for two and a half years.
Garry Monk first spotted Olsson, but it was only now that his move has finally materialized.
Olsson is part of Sweden’s national football team and has been capped forty times. He first played for Hogaborgs BK until he transferred to Blackburn Rovers, where he played for six years.
